Maybe a tooth that was on the end of a rotary boring machine.

Maybe a tooth that was on the end of a rotary boring machine.

It was found in the dirt next to an old Home Place-farm house. It was my Mamaw and Papaw's. I was thinking some old farm implement maybe. Papaw never had a tractor that I remember, but did have Mules. By the time I was born he had went from farming cotton and row crops to Cows only.

I bought the old home place and even found a horseshoe, a few chains, and other little parts in very close proximity to this piece.

I don’t know the name of it. I think it was a device used for setting the pitch/angle of something on an implement of some sort.

To me, it looks like an old brick grab.
One on each end of a rod and it would grab the ends of a course of bricks
(6 bricks I think).
Just guessing though.

Looks like something that was bolted onto a machine to either hold something on, or offer two adjustments.

I'm thinking it's something to do with fencing with stiff round wire. Wire comes in one of the slots, then around the center boss and back out the other slot. Or maybe not just fencing but anything needing lots of tension on a wire.
