Battle over the past rages on in an evolving South

i just read a good article located at the following site:

Good article. It's kind of amazing reconstruction did not ban all signs of the Confederacy permanantly. I wonder how long Stone Mountain will last for as well.
I went to a banquet tonight and was speaking with a true southern gentleman who said he had been all over the world and it took that for him to understand how wonderful the south is. He also made the point that the manners that many of us are raised with are the same manners of royalty. I agree with that but I think they talk funny.
