Not sure what is biting right now. A simple thing to do is a bottom rig with a weight and hook(s). Use shrimp. I also like to use a popping cork with a shrimp. Check with the local bait shops.

Pompano rig on the bottom..may be a little early for them though. Try half hitch.. their fishing report is usually pretty good but it doesn’t appear to have been updated lately.

I usually buy my bait and tackle there..just talk to the employees and they will steer you in the right direction.
They've been catching reds, black drum, and pompano on the pier the past week.

the simple thing for right now is act like your fishing for catfish, use a catfish set up( also read the regs for salt fishing). I would use pin fish for bait, you catch them by acting as if your bream fishing, light pole small weight, small hook and shrimp for bait. You can also use shrimp for the bigger fish. Try not to get to deep in it first, keep it simple and learn from there.
There is no telling what you may catch from the beach at any given time.
