Anchor on the upriver side of pilings (on outgoing) and let your crabs soak on the bottom where the pilings break the tidewater.

Forgive my limited knowledge. What do you mean by where the pilings break the tidewater I know you are talking about the bridge supports but the tidewater thing threw me.

no problem, anchor where your crab sits in or around the edges of the still water on the downstream side of the current. The drum will often eat baits that the tide is pushing by them as they hang out in the calmer water, behind the piling.
