Boat registration

I just got a boat that came with a trailer from a state where you don't have to register boat trailers it's a 1989. The vin is faded had a hall co deputy come out and look at it I can't register it as homemade since it looks manufactured. Is there anyway to register it?

I'm sure someone with better guidance will be along shortly, but maybe roll the dice on a second deputy. If it is older, came from out of state, VIN is faded and you have some form of bill of sale odds are another deputy would issue the VIN and move on.

Sure, you can register it as home made. You took parts from a couple old, no good trailers and built a serviceable one.

In the state of Georgia, the county will issue you a vin plate for a home made trailer. Attach it, and keep your mouth shut.

Haul it to the nearest cop shop, show the officer that all the lights work, and the hitch is secure and proper, and you have a vin#, and he'll sign off on it so you can get a new tag.

Make it easy on yourself, and them.
