Braves 2023 Season Thread

As disappointing as last night's loss was, you just have to tip your cap to Chris Bassitt and move on. He held one of baseball's hottest teams to just 2 hits in a 103 pitch complete game shutout. He only allowed 6 baserunners all night - 2 hits, 2 walks, and 2 HBP.

Nice job Mr. Bassitt.

Lost in all that was Spencer Strider's excellent performance. He only gave up 1 earned run in 6.2 innings pitched with 12 strikeouts. He didn't deserve the loss.

Bryce Elder this afternoon.

Glad I missed most of it today. Did see the meltdown in the 9th. Man, I don’t know who they turn to in the bullpen right now

If the Braves were a horse, you would be inclined to take them out behind the barn and shoot them right now.

Hopefully they either saved a few runs for the rest of the series, or the sleeping giant awakened...

Arcia has been a HUGE surprise. We knew what we were getting defensively, but had no idea, or at least I had no idea, what he was capable of offensively.

Dude's BA so far this season is nearly 100 points above his career average.

And to think I was once foolish enough to want him traded. I wouldn't trade him now unless it was for 2-3 top players like the Angels Ohetani(sp) and Trout together. We sure could use some starting pitching being down 2 starters and using retreads to fill the gaps.

These bullpen "starts" are not working out for the Braves. Not sure, but I think they are 0'fer in bullpen starts. They are losing the games and wearing out their relievers thus making them less effective in the 7-8-9 innings of games when they are really needed. Not to mention what the extra workload is going to do to them in August/September.

Hope AA is working really hard to resolve this.

Looked up Luke Jackson this morning. I thought he was still in the Braves organization but apparently the Braves did not extend his contract for this season. San Francisco picked him up and he has started his rehab assignment at the Sacramento AAA club. So far he has not allowed an earned run in very limited work (3 games and 2.2 innings pitched.)

Hate the Braves didn't resign him but wish him luck. I liked him as a Brave.

Yep, he's putting up some interesting numbers this season so far. Hope he can stay healthy.

That 8th inning was full of clutch hitting. Soto was bumping 100mph every other pitch and Ozzie and Ozuna took what he gave them and then Snitker pulled Harris Jr. for d'Arnaud who pulled one through the gap and scored 2. Olson topped it off with a sac fly to put the lead away. Was a good back and forth game. Glad the Braves came out on top.
