I’ll definitely take the class again. It’s a great setup.

I took the class two years ago this September coming. What a great experience. Does he have 8 in the class? Glad to see he's up and running. Good folks. Gil
PS: 7'6" 5 WGT?

7 total Gil. One fella booked last week. I booked a year ago. What a world we live in right now. Plexiglass in between stations and TVs for close up instruction. I’m building an 8’ 2 piece 5 wt.

I was wondering what the set up would be. The TV use is a great idea regardless of pandemic. I got in because of a last minute cancellation. My last day at work was a Friday and the class started on the following Monday. The student from the most distant location was from Salt Lake City. One of the best stories about where students come from was about two men who came from New Zealand but neither knew the other until they met in Blue Ridge. Are you staying upstairs? Good rod choice, btw. Gil

No Sir, I live in Morganton most of the time so I’m home. He said he’s keeping the TVs even after the pandemic. Great tool IMO. We have 1 from PC Beach, 2 from Conway, AR and the winner for longest travel is from Phoenix. And thanks Gil. Can’t wait to finish her. Today was hump day and started with planing. Lots of planing.

I’m stoked now. Can see the efforts coming through. Can’t wait until tomorrow and, again, will definitely take this class again. Thinking about an Orvis Battenkill for this rod. Classic look. Talk me out of it. Open to all opinions.

Are you going one foot or two footed guides? I went with the one footed guides. I did a lowcountry boil for the class after Friday's class. I drove up with my cooking gear and 10 lbs. of 20 count wild Georgia shrimp. We didn't quite eat it all. Friends that I made who went back for another class last fall were wishing someone else would do the boil. :) I stayed upstairs and it was a good move to stay there, but you live just around the corner from the shop. I have the classic Battenkill on all of my Bamboo rods. Grew up drooling over them in the Orvis catalogs and they do not disappoint in the least. I did not go with the newer "Battenkill disc".

I took a dulcimer building class once upon a time and was nervous all week about making a mistake but it was no where as delicate as this process. I can only imagine how anxious you were until the glue up day and seeing it come together as it did.

Once I finished planing (the scariest step IMO) I watched a guy snap a tip section with his planer. It was his last pass on his last tip section. You could see the disappointment in his eyes. Puts more work on the staff as well. Delicate stuff for sure. I bet building a dulcimer was fun! Always wanted to try a mandolin.
