For Georgia hunting I will only consider one projectile...... a .54 caliber patched round ball. Accurate to 100 yards, maybe a little farther. I've been hunting the .54 caliber round ball since '95 and I've only had 2 or 3 that didn't completely penetrate a deer or hog. But still the kill was quick.
The shape of a ML bullet isn't what kills a deer. It's the shot placement that counts.
So if you are having a tough time killing with a ML, then my guess is more target practice is in order. I shoot only flintlocks and I practice all year.
