Camouflage Coalition Day at the Georgia State Capitol
Tuesday, January 11
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

We need you to join us next Tuesday, January 11 for a rally at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a very important event for the future of hunting and fishing in Georgia because it is the introduction of the Camo Coalition to the Georgia General Assembly. If we have a huge crowd of several hundred Camo members attending, it will have a positive impact on members of the legislature and set the stage for the Camo Coalition to be the voice for hunting, fishing and conservation. If only 50 - 60 people attend, it will be just another group. That is why it is so important for each of you to attend and bring others with you.

The event at the Capitol is called "Sportsmen's Day at the Capitol". This is the third year for this event. In the past, it involved displays from conservation organizations, DNR's laser shooting game and DNR staff showing live wildlife like hawks, snakes, etc. This year the Camo Coalition is inviting sportsmen to attend so they can meet their General Assembly members or at least go by their office and leave a card. The theme will be one of genuine support and cooperation with the General Assembly and the administration of Governor Sonny Perdue for positive proposals related to protecting our hunting and fishing traditions and conserving our wildlife resources. This will be the first time General Assembly members have been introduced to an organized group of sportsmen so we need lots of you there so they will remember the Camo Coalition.

When you arrive at the Capitol, come to the Camo booth in the rotunda area located on the South side of the Capitol on the second floor. We encourage each of you to visit your House and Senate members office and hopefully have the opportunity to meet them just to say "hello". Directions to their offices will be provided to you. Calling cards will be also be provided for you to leave at their offices if you don't have a chance to meet them. The calling card will have your name and address with some general statements about supporting the tradition of hunting, fishing and wildlife conservation. Again, the purpose of this event is to let General Assembly members know that this is an organized group of sportsmen and sportswomen that expect to have a voice on issues that impact them.

Realtree has been kind enough to donate camouflage ties to the first 200 Camo members that attend this event. These ties look nice with a beige or white sports shirt and khaki pants. If you don’t think you will be in the first 200 please dress in business attire but include an appropriate article of camouflage clothing such as a tie, cap, hat, shirt or scarf. Please don't wear overalls, hunting jackets, bowie knives or boots. The camo clothing will distinguish us from the rest of the folks at the capitol and become our trademark.

We realize this is a workday for most people, but this is a drop-in type event. No one is expected to stay from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A quick visit to your member's offices will only take 15-20 minutes. If you live or work nearby, you can run by during your lunch hour. But, if possible, plan to be there around 1:30 p.m. for the Governor's address to our group. There will be other Legislative members that will also address the group following the Governor. It would be nice to have several hundred Camo members for the Governor's comments.

Parking will be provided at no cost at Turner Field and a shuttle will be available to take you to the steps of the Capitol. Park in the Gold lot. It is across the street and on the east side of Turner Field. Directions to Turner Field are as follows:

Appearance is very important when meeting the members of the general assemably. A follow up hand written letter also has a lasting impact.

Also if you would like to park within walking distance you can park at the Georgia state highrise lot or down the hill from the capital is a (across from underground) is another high rise lot.
