Camp help

Ok I got in a club with no power or water at camp . For power I have a generator, for water my thoughts are to put one of those big tots with the metal cage around them with water in it and let in gravity feed . Question is how do I keep the water from getting algae in it ? So I can use it for showers and washing my hands . Thanks in Advance

At our camp we have a black 55 gal drum sitting outside each camper and have a 12 volt water pump pumping it inside. We have always took water from home in a couple 30gal jugs then transfer it over when needed. Last yr I got one of those 275 gal totes and mounted it on an old jet ski trailer that way we can run to town or wherever and get enough for a couple campers

You can look up how much chlorine bleach to add per gallon or gallons, we've had a camp for over 40yrs with no power or water, I take water in 5 gallon containers down at the beginning of the season, usually two or three, take them back home and refill as needed. We considered one of the big containers, but decided it wasn't worth the hassle, we'd have to bring water anyway every weekend to keep it filled.

We use bottled water for drinking and cooking, I usually keep two or three cases in my camper , and only use the water in containers for washing pots pans and bathing, couple of guys take showers in their campers, I generally sponge off if its hot weather , cold weather I can usually wait a couple days till I'm back home.

I have a250 gallon tank on an old 4x6 trailer my neighbor fills it for me a couple times a year. I put about 1/3 a gallon bleach every time its filled my cabin is fully plumed but I use a surflo one gallon at 60 psi pump. We bring couple gallons on water for drinking I will get a well one day but this system has worked great.

Keep your water container out of the sun. That goes a long way to prevent algae.

We use a 275 gallon water tote but we don’t let the water stand for more than six weeks.
