The bait today was not quite ready to come to the green lights so we headed towards the back of the creeks. The stained water had the bait thick and after a few throws we had plenty for the day. Had a feeling that the river mouth was the place to start and put out a spread of freelines and d/l. The first ten minutes we were hooked up with a nice 15 lb striper. The freeline bite died quickly and we switched all over to downlines the action was hot with a 50 ft. bottom putting our baits at 20 feet the water temp in the stained water came up to 53 degrees towards the end of the day. We boated 10 stripers between 15 and 20 lbs what a great day for the first real striper trip of the year..Tight lines everyone

Thanks guys the key to our success was the alewife in the medium range last year was the gizzard this year is the alewife. I think Robert will agree that's the bait of choice for the fish in that lake although they are alittle tougher to catch most of the year tight lines guys
