Coons in a red oak

Watched 3 coons climb up into the top of a 60 ft red oak and mingle around right at dark. Just wondered what they were looking for?

If there are no acorns on the ground they will climb and eat acorns on the tree just like a bear will. It also could be young coons just being young coons.

I saw a similar thing a few years ago, 3 coons but they were in a white oak, just before sundown and it was also in early-mid October. I assumed they were going after acorns in the top of the white oak.
