Crazy crappie.

Hit the old pond at day break today. 1st couple spots didn't do too well , seems like the fish had moved on from last week. Went on a search and destroy mission and started catching 3 to 5 at each stop. Found one brush pile that was slap full of them. Pulled about a dozen from it but they're all smalls. I did run into a couple spots and one large mouth. The large mouth won the battle as it came up through the water and did the dance. You know the one where just the tail is in the water and the rest of its body is out and you see the bucket mouth going back-and-forth until you see it sling your bait 3 or 4 feet. I ended up somewhere between 35 and 40 when a good storm came up on me. I quickly went under a dock to let the rain pass and somehow picked one with a bunch of crappie below me so I started vertical jigging and caught a few more. Today, the little guys just couldn't figure out what depth they wanted to stay at as you can see on the sonar shot. Crazy crappie !

Nice catch. I've been catching a lot of 7-9 " fish with some slabs mixed in. Should be great two years in the future
Good luck fishing.

If that's the measure for a good future then yes, we will be just fine. I caught several 5-7" today. Mostly from one school
