Yep, every single black one I've seen has had the white spot.Nice catch. Most all of the black ones I've seen have a white chest.
I think Bartram described them that way in his book.Yep, every single black one I've seen has had the white spot.
He did, indeed.I think Bartram described them that way in his book.
That's a nice one! Congratulations!Caught this dark female this morning, she weighed 35 pounds. Large white spot on her chest . Dirt hole set in the middle of a woods road.
I think Bartram described them that way in his book.
So are they actually wolves? Or descendants of coyotes and Bartrams wolf mix? Got a few cam pics but I've never actually seen one.He did, indeed.
All eastern "coyotes" are apparently a coyote/wolf hybrid. Every DNA study done on them so far bears this out, plus, their size, packing tendencies, and color variations. They ain't the same coyote critter that's out west. It appears that the red/Bartrams wolf wasn't as extinct as they thought it was.So are they actually wolves? Or descendants of coyotes and Bartrams wolf mix? Got a few cam pics but I've never actually seen one.
There was a new study published recently i think the DNR put it out but i forget. Im sure you can find it, but it had the wolf dna at about 45% if im remembering. So yeah. Alot of wolf.So are they actually wolves? Or descendants of coyotes and Bartrams wolf mix? Got a few cam pics but I've never actually seen one.
