Dax Dear God

Lurker in this sub forum, long time member. I know rap isn't GON's cup of tea, and usually not mine. But this hits real. Can't post link due to language. Search Dax Dear God. Lyrically, I'm curious as to thoughts from believers and non believers and where do you think this guy is coming from.

I just read the lyrics (googled them) and the rap starts out asking basic questions that both a lot of believers & non-believers have, but then it kind of went off into a more confusing, intense tangent. But I can see his point - from the points that I could follow at least. There are very basic questions (not necessarily the exact questions or issues that concern Dax) that no believer has ever been able to explain to me. These questions involve the character & morality of god (god of the bible just to clarify) and the crazy laws-of-physics/laws-of-science defying obviously fictional stories that permeate the bible.

Sidenote I have been watching some Answers in Genesis apologetic "science" videos and granted, they are chock full of "answers" but they are jaw-droppingly cringe-worthy and full of inaccuracies at every level.

But this Dax fellow seems to be legitimately conflicted concerning god (and gods followers) "talking the talk" versus "walking the walk" but I could be way off base and totally misinterpreting what Dax is rapping about.

“I don't want religion, I need that spirituality
I don't want a church, I need people to call a family
I don't wanna tell my sins to another sinner just because he's got a robe and he went to some academy”

I, I, I, I, I

Fair point, but after all he is talking about himself and his questions. Regarding the language, I am a believer and one of the most real dialogues I've had with God involved language and questions. It was more real than any now I lay me down to sleep prayer I've said. If I wasn't a believer (Christian to be clear) it wouldn't have been so real and emotional.

He’s definitely conflicted. He has all these questions but rejects anyone who might have the answers.
Or perhaps he doesn't reject the people who might have the answers, but he rejects (or questions) the answers that they have given him so far.

Many people throw out questions as a dodge, a way of avoiding repentance. That’s the vibe I’m getting here.

I see your point. I got in a rabbit hole on this guy, his more recent stuff seems to indicate he's no longer conflicted and has faith in God and has repented. It could all be for show and "clicks", I don't know. It seems real though. It did open up a door to talk about my faith to a friend who isn't a believer but was intrigued enough by this guy to start asking questions. Who knows if they'd been open to conversation otherwise.

Oldfella, I appreciate your feedback as well from a non believer perspective

He specifically says he rejects the church.

Jesus came to establish His church. The church is His Bride and His Body. You can’t desire Jesus and deny His church.
He may be thinking of "the church" as the church members (the congregation of any particular church) he has to deal with, rather than an extension/an essential tenet of Jesus himself.

I'd give it a 7, liked the lyrics but tough to dance to. These old joints easily do the lock part in pop and lock, but the pop part has become problematic.

And there's always the issue of dragging or making prayers into public light, but plainly Jesus didn't have a problem with it at times with His disciples. Could be the man is also being prepared to die for what is revealed of him from his deepest recesses.

Only a few "liked" what Jesus the Christ had to say enough to eat and drink with Him and share journeying with Him.

And even of those none were awake on earth to witness His time of loud cries and tears except by revelation "later" (for them) by the Spirit given in His name. Nor did any like being told they would all fall away that night. Some even protested they knew better. That's not uncommon, at all. God knows.

But maybe "like" in the common sense is never enough to get a real sticking.

Could be what I heard was a man experiencing God's insertion of a thing no man can receive apart from some peculiar outworking witnessed by those around him. The love of the truth more than their own lives.

God knows.

 Once you reach a certain age the only move you can pull off is the "snap, crackle and pop".

Which Church is the one most closely aligned with Jesus's idea/vision of "Church"?

I understand where he's coming from, but to me it sounds like, "Dear God, answer my questions exactly how and in the form I want you to answer my questions or I won't believe you".
Also, why not start the search for answers in God's word? That's often how he's reached me. I've rarely grown by just being given the answers to my questions. I've grown from searching for and finally understanding the answers to my questions.
