Out this morning with Brandon and his father, Rick. Rick had come up from Brunswick, GA. We got started around 8:30am It was chilly and windy but down the lake we went - fast! I'm pretty sure Rick got frostbite
First stop - we pull in to a ditch and look around. I see some bait and fish.....drop shot and spoon down.....Brandon and Rick put 4 spots in the boat....LJ puts a 10" perch....yay for LJ! 48' deep....and this was much different than marsh and Altamaha river fishing for Rick....a lot different.
Moved on looking at some other ditches....pulled in to one and found some thick bait ...and a mega school of fish in 45' of water! Drop shot, spoon, and the Damiki rig went to town. One of us was constantly reeling up a fish....doubles....triples.....They kept catching while I was fizzing fish.
We couldn't grease another one to put in the livewell. When you get on a big school - putting them in the livewell will allow you to keep catching them. We took pics and released all fish - right back to the bottom they went. I don't exactly how many we caught out of this school but it was a ton. Brandon and Rick were digging the KastKing rods and reels too.
It was around 10:45am and I decided to leave this school alone so we moved on. Bad mistake....not only did we run across some very rough water - with Rick getting wet a few times....but our bite died!
Today it was Blue Lily runts, Prizm Shad, and our Lanier Baits spoons (Georgia Blade makes a great one....that's why we carry them) in the "Pearlish" and Blue/White.
Fun time with these two - some trash talking and good conversation and boy we stuck some fish. No big girls today - biggest maybe 2.5#....but boy, we had a ton of them! The good part - the deep bite is going to get better. LJ
