After 2 unsatisfactory ladders with H4895, I borrowed some varget from a friend and loaded a ladder with the 120 TTSX for the 7/08. First group was 0.9” 4 shot group at 100 yards. Shot the rest of the ladder and had another group measure 1.1” closer to max load. Was very happy to find a load for this bullet in this rifle, but it would require unobtanium! Haha

Possum Sox
I played around with the 30-06 the other day seems like 47.5 grains of IMR4064 Remington brass and 180 coreloks gave me the best results. So I banged out 100 rounds today. Should be enough to shoot some be sure zero is good and have a few left for hunting. If you see a picture of a deer with a Jester hat on you know what happened

Well, I tried.

I haven't played around with my loading stuff in a while. I picked up some old guns from an estate: a Rem Mod 11 in 16 ga, a Remington Mod 6 .22, and a Ruger Blackhawk 3 screw with the extra 9mm cylinder. Cleaning those up led to the need to clean up others which led to the desire to update an inventory of my ammo and loading supplies.

I hadn't run anything through the press in a good while so after I slicked it all up I grabbed a fired case, brushed it out lubed it up and promptly got it stuck it in the die. I bout hurt myself trying to get the lock nut to let go of the decapper. My impact driver is on near permanent loan to my kids and my neighbor who is handy has a cold that I don't want to risk catching right now. So, I'm stuck in the middle of trying for a bit here. LOL

Rolled up a few more 7 RMs and shot those along with some 6.5s at daybreak today. I just can't leave well enough alone, but I'm leaving 3AM Saturday for my hunt out west so will have to quit piddling around. Going to load up a pile more for one more range session of practice, chronograph, dialing, etc. And pack up maybe 40 loads for the trip (would like to confirm zero then shoot at some rocks at various distances once I'm at elevation).

Then save one bullet for the kill (y)

Best of luck to you and the gang.

We’ll be after them Friday morning. Cousin lands Thursday afternoon and his Sharps has already arrived. Plans are to shoot paper patch loads I rolled up but have greasers on standby.
The wife and I put eyes on 4 worthy goats over the weekend.

Oh, the weather has been outstanding.!

Up early to crank out those cases. Had to get the old brown mule (IMR 4350) out for one more stroll. And just a few more shots of Retumbo to make sure I’m set there. Shot up another box of VLDs wouldn’t you know the newer lot was about 0.008” more jump with die set the same? I see why guys want 500 from the same lot.

Well, I'll be ditching the Retumbo. As much as I love the velocity and crazy low SD I can't get it to shoot consistently (accuracy) without playing with seating depth and my time is up. Both groups were over 2" today!

And the old IMR 4350 delivered again... even with switching to magnum primers, I had four groups of two different charges all under 1 MOA. I'll be sacrificing 250 fps but I know this powder shoots well and I'm forcing the Retumbo for low SD, speed, and temp stability while messing with accuracy in a way I can't solve without more range time. Will roll up 40 rounds that I can fit in my rifle case and call it good. See y'all in another week or so.

Accuracy trumps speed every time.

Of the hard cast variety
I have family from Va that likes to shoot when they come up to visit my Dad and Step Mother.
They gave me 4 bags of assorted brass. Took me about an hour and a half to sort through it all. Worth it.

Even found a loaded 44 mag in there!

Hey @Jim Boyd , powder valley has benchmark and BLC-2 in stock (and CFE). All great Grendel options. I bought three lbs of BM haven’t seen that forever. I paid WAY too much but desperate times call for desperate measures. Let’s go Brandon.

Loaded up 40 rounds of 7 RM. It’s all over but the crying.
