Did you reload anything today #6

this is probably one of the reasons I don't lock down my dies, if you are doing that, in most cases the chambers on different rifles can be vastly different. It is always best to measure the needed headspace on each one and bump the shoulders back for that rifle. Or find the tightest HS on the rifles you are loading for and size them all to that dimension.
For the rifles that I reload for…every rifle gets its own sizing die.

I haven't loaded much since 2011-2013, but have been loading some 243 for my son since he likes to rifle hunt. Been cooking Nosler 95gr BT's over 37gr of IMR4064, and those have been great. This weekend I built some SGK 85gr HPBT's over 38gr of IMR4064.

I have a Comp Electronics ProChrony that I use in my bow shop, but I've never used it for rifle loads. What is the recommended distance to shoot through it with a rifle? I'd like to see what velocities I'm getting with this new load.

I load .303 British for 3 different Enfield guns. They all have a ton of headspace and severely work brass if you full length resize. I measured all 3 chambers and set my sizing die to bump the shoulder back just far enough for the tightest chamber. Worked out great.

The .303 was only the 3rd cartidge I'd ever loaded for after 35 Whelen and then 30-06 Garand loads, but the difference in the brass after firing was obvious, and so was the accuracy once I neck-sized that fired batch.

I still learn things every time I add a cartridge, but that lesson was memorable.

I think it is 10' from the muzzle...I haven't used my Ohler in so long we might have to get help from one of theses other fellas.

just remember the muzzle is at least 1.5" lower than the line of sight ;)

I might try 4064 in the next batch...thanks

I chrono from 7 with high power rifle. All others are at 3. Edited, 7 and 3 yards not feet.

AI Overview

For optical chronographs, it's generally recommended to place the sensors at least 10 feet from the muzzle. A standard distance of 20 feet is also used by some. This distance is necessary to minimize the interference from muzzle blast, flash, and unburnt powder. Caldwell Ballistic Chronograph instructions suggest 10-15 feet. However, for air rifles, the distance can be much closer.

Didn't get squat loaded again this weekend. Haven't been to the ranges in so long I'll have to use map apps to find them.

Cut the grass, vacuumed-washed-fueled up the truck, did laundry, went to store and bought stuff to cook for lunch-dinner and picked up quick & easy staples for the workweek ahead.

This weekend I did accomplish one unexpected objective with the help of three insightful womenz. My cologne game is now bolstered & well provisioned.
Daily drivers for work hours and a few date night options.

Even got a haircut and a beard trim. Sasquatch is now adopting civilized trappings.

I never expected to be dating again.....but it is what it is.
Gonna make the best of it and have some good times.

At some point over the next year I gotta get a new knee installed....then plan on the second. With any luck, by then I'll have a nurse who can swing by and check on me before or after her nights shifts.....and a realtor to come by mid day. Sounds ideal...so long as there isn't a jealous neighborhood gal that would mess up whatever arrangement may exist during said recoveries. ::gone:
I sympathize with you sir, the Doc stuck a needle looked like Cajun Turkey baster in my knee last visit. Filled it up with fluid off my knee. Steroid injection got me mobile again. I’m waiting on my chicken grease to arrive to get my 6 month knee lube job.

I wish I could get a steroid injection. I have been having mine drained a couple of times a year for close to 25. And that is just on the bad knee...the other one has been inside of now too.

It is rough when you hear it pop through the skin it is so full of fluid. This is one of the things that stopped me from running hogs with dogs...knee just can't handle it any more.

Cranked out 50 rounds of 220 swift mixed cases old powder and pulled bullets. I don't plan on accuracy with this load just burning up some 2nd rate components. I got a new thermal and it will take a bit to get it dialed in. I'll use these to get it on paper and get used to the controls and menu, no need in using up my good components till I'm ready to get a accurate load, zero, and put the hat on Wiley

Got a small shipment in from X-Treme Bullets today... Took advantage of the mother's day sale, mainly to get some food for my upcoming .458 Socom AR build, but the price was right on the 200gr SWC's, and you can never have too much 1911 food.

No reloading but did sight in my 308 this morning with a fixed 10x I’m temporarily using on that rifle. Waiting to do load development when I get the barrel sped up, maybe 80 rounds. Also confirmed zero on the thermal/223, gonna hunt a little with the kids this weekend.

Have y’all seen the new torque wrench kit by Real Avid? Looks nice… I have the wheeler kit but this looks a little better.

I have been loading a few days each week lately.
RMR had a sale of blemished 124gr JHP MPR Nuke HP's.
They are a great hollow point and really expand and they are accurate.
They were cheaper than most plated or fmj bullets around.

CBC is opening a new 500 acre ammo plant in Oklahoma, and they will be producing powder and primers stateside. Even if we don’t get components, maybe it will take pressure off the domestic market. Magtech and S&B make some decent stuff in my limited experience with the brands.

I like their primers just fine... Currently using them in 45 ACP and .223. Also for any SPP cartridges I load. All of the Monarch 9mm I've gotten from Academy (a few thousand?) been re-branded Magtech.

The 7.62x51 NATO brass leaves a little to be desired in my M14, but their ammo seems to be just fine. I’ll be sure to pick up some small pistol if it becomes available. The older I get the more I shoot revolver, no brass retrieval needed.
