Dog vs cactus

We have a chihuahua that is a house dog, but today while he was outside, he got into a cactus. It’s the very fine, tiny needles. They are mostly around his nose area. I was able to remove some with tweezers, but he wouldn’t be still enough to get all of them. Now he’s laying on the couch, and acts like he feels bad. Will the rest of them work their way out? I would think they would fester up and come out, but not sure. Anyone else ever have this problem?

Poor pooch. I don’t think they’ll work their way out. If you can’t pull them out sounds like a trip to the vet is necessary.
