Dove Field

Thread starter #1
I have a small dove field that I planted in millet this year for dove. I am going to hunt it saturday when season opens in florida, i have mowed a couple strips already in it , should I leave some standing and just continue to mow a couple strips, or mow the whole thing at once before saturday?
This year was my first year planting a "dove field." My field was 2 acres that was mostly millet, with two strips of WGF sorghum planted for cover. I started mowing strips a couple weeks before season, and the Wednesday before season opened I went in and disked strips in the field to provide fresh dirt. Next, I cut all the millet which resulted in a mix of stubble and bare dirt with fresh seed. It provided me with two good shoots and enough birds for a third if I have the time to get out there and hunt them before the first season ends.
