My stepson had that exact same truck. His transmission went out and I purchased one at a junkyard for 300$, it came with a 3 month warranty. He ended up driving the truck for another two years or so before he sold it.97 F150 super cab long bed. Lonnng drivetrain.
None of the joints even budged. When I got all the way to trans and was trying to wobble it, I could detect a very slight movement in the spline of the trans. Possibly 1/32 of movement, maybe less, hard to see it, but was able to feel it and see it.
