Fall road trip 2021

[Liquid nails]

Normally the time of year I lose them so we decided to hit a lake we’ve never fished before yesterday. Loaded up the boat and headed out at 2pm.

This is Hartwell. Old Indian name for lake with no big fish. This is I85 & Tugaloo river crossing into Georgia. Keep going.

Welcome to Cleveland. Nice town. Keep going.

Welcome to Blairsville. Very nice town. Got grub at Zaxbys. Shout out to Maggie there for taking care of us. Keep going.

This is Lake Nottely. Thought about launching the sled there. Nah. Keep going.

Ahh. You boys know where I’m going. Getting close.

Finally got set up right at dark. Little over 3.5hrs to get there. Caught 14 total. All were cats except for one stripe which we was after. Was a great trip and enjoyed the scenery. Saw a couple bald eagles. Biggest cat was that flatty that weighed a tad over 30lbs.

The stripe hit at 1:34am. Son was half asleep reeling her in.

Beautiful lake. I will be back. Nice to go get on some good ones getting your feet wet on the lake first trip. Lake is in the boonies!

Worst part of a trip like that... after the fun's all over.... you have to go home.

That’s a great area. My father was born and raised between Hanging Dog and Beaverdam. I spent a lot of time up there in my younger years.

Wow, it looks like y’all had a great trip. How long are you staying up there?

Pulled an all nighter and came back this morning. Unfortunately had to get back.

Had 3 spots picked out I wanted to try.
1st spot, ehh. Nothing.
2nd spot, nothing.
3rd spot and sun going down quick. Nothing. Fixing to search on the Garmin another spot and saw fish STACKED on a steep point. Got anchored and tossed a few out and immediately hooked up. Dang catfish ? At that point it was dark and I said we gonna call this our spot. Glad we did. Not sure I’d want to be out there in a boat that leaks. She’s DEEP!

I was anchored in 29’ FOW with 150’ FOW just beyond a stones throw away.
