Thought about putting them in the freezer when small game was in.

Probably should have but not real sure about a CB Cap in town although I've done it before.

So this guy is headed a mile and a half or so down the road to a nice little creek and hardwood bottom.

He won't be tearing up my year old fescue that's doing awesome except for the holes they dig.

5 more to go. They have been here for years.
Hate to see them go but it's necessary.20250506_201319.jpg

My dad used squirrel for catfish bait. Little chucks cut up and on a hook it went.

A mile and a half is just a morning stroll for a squirrel. If there’s a good supply of food they’ll be back.

Several years ago I did the same thing. Squirrel was chewing up the rails on my deck (read that they do that to wear down excessive tooth length.) Shooting them, even with an air rifle, was not an option. Keep trapping and relocating about a mile away until I finally got the chewer. Replaced the rails and haven't had a problem since.

To be clear, I love squirrel hunting. And if I'm out in the woods with my CZ 452 it's game on. But I've never felt right about killing something just because it's inconviencing me, if I can avoid it. Squirrels are just being squirrels, they are just trying to make a living too.

If youve got 6, how many do your neighbors have?
On this end of the subdivision it's just me and my side lot because that's all woods and the next neighbor.

Don't see them anywhere else very often on this end. They stay right here with the woods, creek and my fescue.

It's possible across the street for a few more dray and a general scurry. The creek runs thru there as well and butts up to bigger woods that are undeveloped.

Definitely going to do the alternative if I can't trap them up. I like having them around but they do a lot of damage. Getting to hot to keep throwing grass seed in the holes.20250507_114438.jpg20250507_114501.jpg20250507_114532.jpg

I REALLY don't want to pop them if I can avoid it.

Thankfully, they don't seem to have a taste for the Zoysia in the back and one side.

Nice catch ! I’m glad I don’t worry that much about my grass .
Lot of work and money.
Not helping my tool barn either.

Got 4 nice Juniper to put out today if it dries up enough. 3 right between the tree to the right and the sidewalk and one wherever I can find a place.

#2 is the fastest I've ever caught one in a trap.
Less than an hour. Un popped popcorn and bird seed.

Fixing to take him over with the other one from yesterday.

Do you provide food, water, and shelter for them after you kidnap them and before they are deported? LOL
Excellent place on a hardwood bottom with a stream and fenced in 8 acre pond. Hickory, Oak and a few Beech so they have got plenty of nuts and water.

Sure beats the alternative they were looking at.
