Finally Got 1 of 6.

I gave up on fescue. Had fescue sod installed and it looked great for a while. Had to reseed multiple times but it finally all died so I went with Zoysia also. Armadillos normally are the biggest problem. They don’t get moved alive!

I have live trapped flying squirrels and transported them several miles away because I didn't have the heart to kill them, even though I always thought moving them into another's territory probably is a death sentence. Besides you seldom catch a flying squirrel out in daylight. Gray squirrels I don't trap I kill them, because they do a lot of damage and I feel certain they won't survive long being moved to a strange place.

#4 - Hopefully only 2 to go.
Got this one between 3 and 6:30 today.

All 4 have been in the same trap. (Tractor Supply)

They haven't messed with the larger TS or the squirrel size Havahart.20250509_184834.jpg

Got #6 today between 1:00 and 5:15 and took him off to his family.

Turned all of them loose at the exact same place and all but 1 ran up the same tree. The other one went up the tree right beside it.

I was hopeful they could pick up each others scent. Maybe they did.

They all went in the same trap and haven't touched the other 2 and they are all within a 25 yard square.
Good job 7 ! I’d bet 6 more take their place within a few weeks

When (not if) you do this again, spray paint their tails a bright color and see where they go. Using a different paint color on succeeding generations will add to the entertainment value.

I have told this story here before:
We once had a Golden Retriever and walked her on trails around the farm. She liked to fetch box turtles. She brought back so many we started marking their shells with fingernail polish to check for repeats. The dumber ones would up with 5 or 6 marks. LOL

OK. 7. :bounce:

I'm pretty sure I've caught one every day except the first day and yesterday. Left it sprung visiting Mama in the hospital yesterday and not sure when I'd be home to release him. Didn't want to stress him any more than necessary.

This fellow decided he wanted some bird seed and un- popped pop corn sometime before about 5 today.

I'm starting to wish I trapped them in winter so I could eat them. I'd have a good mess by now.
