For aesthetics, I prefer wood, for sure. For practicality, my favorite one is spray paint. I have an old tang-safety M77 that I bought used. It probably has a really nice checkered walnut stock, but it had been spray-can camo'd. It's ugly, but it's dull, doesn't stand out in the woods, and most importantly-it does not rust at all in my rust-factory house. It's the only gun I own that I don't have to worry about rust issues with.
Sweet rifle Nico! This is the only pic I can find of my last wood stocked rifle. Pic would be from 2001 or 2002. I've never been sentimental with my guns, but man I killed a boatload of deer with it. Almost all does that I remember back in those days
