Fun to cast

Quite a few years ago I had a 6wt Sage Z-Axis that I loved. Caught so many fish on that rod and great in the wind. Haven’t had a 6wt since but bought a Scott Centric 6wt a few months ago that’s only been yard cast so far but it has a great feel to it with SA Infinity taper. Some of the faster 6 wts today don’t feel like you’d expect a fast 6 wt to feel in a good way. I can’t imagine you not liking a Scott G Series if you enjoy a softer rod. The G Series can also deliver dry / dropper rigs very well……….even the 8’8” 4wt G Series. Just all time classic fly rods! Knock on wood as I’ve never had a problem but if you have an issue with a Scott don’t expect a ricky tick quick turnaround on the repair. G Loomis has some GREAT fly rods and a FAST “expediter” replacement program.

Interesting to hear the negative comment on the new Sage LL as many seem to like but from what I’ve read it is a little faster than the G Series. Lots of reviews out there and no substitute for actually casting but Telluride Angler has some good articles to sort through the mess!

Just an FYI, the new Sage Trout LL is NOT the same rod as the original LL. I wouldn't have one if you gave it to me.
Is the shop giving away rods now? Missed you and the UO gang at the Fly Fishing Show. I always booked a "show special" trip with Jake there. Will just have to pay full price this year.

Hey, Al. Long time no see! We all got together and decided it was still just too risky to ask our staff to work the show. We missed it also. Hopefully, we'll be back next year.

No two people cast the same. I like to try out a rod before I purchase it. I like faster rods in most circumstances, simply because I am a saltwater fly fisherman. Distance and wind are issues that saltwater fly fishermen deal with on most every trip. With that being said, I will use a slow glass rod for fishing in tight mangrove swamps or under dock lights at night. I tend to buy the more expensive tackle simply because the fish and conditions I fish are not easy on tackle. My go to brands tend to be G. Loomis, Sage and Hardy with the odd Thomas & Thomas thrown into the mix. What are you wanting to fish for? If Saltwater, I can maybe set you in the right direction.

Been looking at the G Loomis rods. Specifically a spin rod for when I go out with people for business reasons.
