After a thousand knots, tangles, caught bushes, missed hook sets, and come offs at the net, my boy finally got his first trout on a fly rod 100% on his own.
It came out of the water to take his irresistible Adam’s and after he set the hook he was squealing like a wild man.
Yeah that’s pretty much right in front of our house. I look in that creek every day and the kids fish it all the time. I was surprised when I saw it come out from under the bank.
Great fish and will be a great memory for him. I remember my first trout on a fly rod 60 years ago. An 8 inch stocker that I yanked onto the bank behind me on the hookset. Checked to make sure the hook was secure, put the fish back in the water, and "fought" him to the net. Love your son's waders and footware. Old school.
