I wonder if a "mature" buck would be able to reach its "potential" if they are late shedders.
Seems they would have a harder time growing a large set of antlers if they hold that late. Or will they just put off shedding their velvet till later?

I do not think a buck shedding late would have any at all on the next year's set of antlers. Supposedly, the antlers fall when there is a dip in testosterone levels, perhaps the T has not dipped yet for this buck.
