Grandaddy Passed Away

We laid my Grandaddy to rest today. I’m 31 years old and that is the hardest thing I have went through. He played such a big part in raising me and is the reason I am the husband and father I am today. He was the definition of a true Christian man and all of his lessons will live on in me forever. My passion for the outdoors came from him, as he took us hunting and fishing what seems like everyday growing up. He was a simple man that found joy in the small things and family. I pray everyone is lucky enough to have someone like him in their life. I’ve always been anxious when thinking about death, but my worries left me today knowing I will reunite with him one day. I know he is finding us a fishing hole right now. I write this to remind those who need it to take advantage of the time you have with your loved ones and get to know god if you don’t already. Life gets busy, but try to make time to see those you love as much as you can.

I’ve been there. It seems like over time it would be easier to handle a loss like that, but it’s not been the case with me.

At this point years after losing him, I just want to honor my Papa with my actions and relationships. I’ve been looking forward to seeing him again since 4 am the morning he left here.

Thank you for sharing with us. It sounds to me like your grandfather did a great job. Hold to your remembrances of him. They will become ever more precious as the years pass.

I am sorry for your loss. Time will ease the pain but nothing will fill the vacant spot.

In time your tears will turn to smiles. Hopefully you will be a "Papa" one day. Then you can pass to them the love you have for your Papa.

God is great.
