We took the boys up to the lake this past weekend to introduce them to the art of sculling. Good times had by all and each of the boys got their 1st chance at birds off a scull. However, got to say this is the worst year we have seen in a long time as far as duck numbers. We found a few small rafts here and there but nothing like typical years. Even the gadwall and millions of coots were rather scarce. I guess we just haven't had the cold to get much of a push. It sounded more like deer hunting mornings than duck hunting with a shot or two way off but gone were the volleys throughout the first light hours. Kind of weird. Still a beautiful lake tho.
