My nephew found this in a good campsite this week . He’s found a lot of pottery and points in the same site. Said you can’t hardly step without stepping on flint . Thanks , he said he done a little research. Just wanted to see what u experts thought . Not far from the Ocmulgee

Egg stone is what I've heard them called.

Club head. The flat end is place against the opposite end of the wooden handle, then covered and wrapped in wet rawhide. When it dries, it is solid. It makes a brutal head buster.

Very nice find.

I don`t know? Late Archaic-Woodland Period?

Do a search for Bolo Stone/Egg Stone. Oldest of all ground stone.

Bolo stones I've seen were round with a dimple on one side...not elongated like this one is.

That is a Savannah River variant, from the late Archaic.
