The next to the last Bass Masters' tourney this year on Lake Champlain hasn't been with out it's share of both. On Thursday (1st day of the tourney) John Soukup stopped to rescued 3 young (10-12 year old) Kayakers (one with out any life preserver) from the middle of the lake when sudden heavy winds blew the trio away from their campground. He and his marshell loaded up the boys and the kayaks, then boated them back to their campground.
On Saturday (day 2 as the weather postponed it from Friday) B.A.S.S. angler Wes Logan hit a under water "object" at around 50mph spinning his boat a full 360deg. tossing him from the driver's seat against the left gunnel and nearly tossing the motor into the boat (restrained only by the "leash" B.A.S.S. requires). He called for help and was towed back to the ramp where emergency service was waiting to take him to a local hospital where he received 5 stitches in he head, 12 stitches in his jaw, and as told he had "several cracked ribs". At the time of the incident he had only 4 of the 5 fish limit in his live well. He returned to the ramp with one hour left to fish which he used to go back out and catch one last fish keeping him in contention for next year's Classic and to be a angler on next years Elite roster.
