I was looking at the coyote hunt thread in the varmint hunting section earlier and I thought it might be good to do something similar for those of us who chase swine.

1. Date and time
2. Number of hunters
3. County and type of terrain
4. Weather
5. Weapon and optics
6. Number of hogs seen
7. Number of hogs killed
8. Bait or food source

This bottom runs between my mother in laws house and the neighbors property. Saw this sow and 5 little ones. Got the sow but the little ones got away.

My neighbor keeps a plot in this field and the hogs visit it regularly. Since it’s a short walk from the house and I’m frequently awake in the early morning hours, it takes only a few minutes to walk out and scan the field with the thermal. I have a ladder stand overlooking the field which makes it very easy to spot hogs in the tall grass. I walked out to the field and spotted this hog with the thermal. After I got into the stand, 2 shots of .308 did the trick. This was my largest hog so far at an estimated weight of approximately 300 lbs. I had to wait until daylight to get my neighbor to bring his tractor so I could get him loaded.

I stepped out into the field and picked this hog up while I was scanning with the thermal. The tall grass made it difficult to identify it as a hog but I was able to easily confirm what it was once I got up the ladder. Smaller boar estimated at approximately 175 lbs.

Combining 2 hunts on 1 post. Scanning with thermal as I approached the field on Sunday morning, I was able to see something in the field through the trees. Stepped into the field and saw 5 hogs in the field. Killed the first one and the gun jammed after the first shot. The rest of the hogs made it out of the field before I could get the jam cleared. Came back out this morning and immediately saw the other 4 hogs in almost the same spot as the previous morning. I shot the first one and the others thought they could be able to hide in the tall grass. That didn’t work out so well for them and only 1 managed to make it to the woods. I believe that these were the piglets from the sow I killed on April 7th. I knew they were still in the area but wasn't able to connect with them until this weekend. Weight estimated at about 40lbs each.

While scouting some turkey spots on Good Friday, I happened upon a sow and some pigs. Since I had the wind in my favor, I eased in close for a shot. The sow came out of the brush and a load of Apex Small Town Blend high behind her shoulder put her down. The pigs scattered to the four winds.

One of the poorest conditioned hogs I have ever seen, 2020-21 was a poor acorn crop in that area and her condition was reflective. She might have weighed 125 pounds, but had the frame for a 200 pounder. I left her for the buzzards and coyotes.

Took a friend hunting who had pigs on his list of things to kill. We shot multiple pigs and recovered the 2 that died in the food plot after looking at the video I figure there are 4 or 5 more that ran off and hopefully are no longer alive
