Iowa again!!!!!

Well, after 6 years I’m finally going back to Iowa during November. I’m pretty certain this will be the last time I go during archery season. I’ll be 56 this year and I’m getting too old to wait 6-7 years to go.

Going forward, I’ll go during shotgun season or late season. Not really into using guns but you can’t hunt with a bow during shotgun season. You can use a bow during late season but that can be on a different level when it comes to cold.

Maybe to you but I’m a beat up and worn out “young” fellow.

I can go about every other year with a gun so I’m thinking thatll be my plans going forward. Of course, after I get up there and get to experience that rut again it will be very hard not to wait.

I drew with 5 points for zone 4. I think I may try to do zone 9 next time since its about half the time. I would like to expand my hunting in other states like Wyoming, Oklahoma, and South Dakota. I've done almost all the big states except for Kansas.

Unfortunately, it's only going to get worse will some of the changes Iowa DNR just implemented.

We are gonna do Kansas in a year or two. I have a friend I grew up with that lives out and told me to get the tag he'd get us access around his place. We got our first point this year, my buddy thinks we can draw with one point...... I guess we'll see.
