Made the drive to north thomas county for the evening hunt. My dad joined so we have both stands covered on this small property. Hoping he shoots something. At 75yrs young I don’t care what he fires on!!

Ok. Had a rack buck at each camera, 5:15 ish. I’m not there. Then close to getting down time, got a pic of another rack buck at stand close to me. I have to walk through there to get to truck. So I’m waiting to get down. Joker comes and trots almost under my stand. I could tell it had a rack, but he didn’t stop until he was almost impossible to see. So, I waited him out until he left. He also freshened a scrape behind me that I thought was abandoned, full of leaves at 3:45. Scraped clean when I walked out. No shots fired but had a little action at least!!

Been up for a few enjoying some coffee and breathing Florida air. Certainly a strange feeling of having no buck tags left for 2024.

Short story on yesterdays buck. I was set on an old firebreak looking dead north with a NNW wind. Was ideal for sure. Our woods are super dry, and you can hear everything from a long ways off. I hear a deer walking and it’s to my 10 oclock. I glance over and see tines. I get the rifle off my shooting sticks and he comes to me and I squeeze off on him. He was 14 yards from me when he caught a 308 with his lungs. He dang near runs me over and some how walks up the firebreak and I throw another at him at about 35. He still managed to go about a hundred before dying in those sweet GA pines. Our club is a condo/office chair/ corn pile joint. I can’t stand to hunt like that, so I’m a millennium tree seat and shooting stick guy, no corn,
No cameras, kinda old school I guess. The other members always shaking their heads when I kill ‘em and they can’t.

Anyways, I’m still hoping the deer I put an arrow in a few weeks back resurfaces. The farm I hunt here is surrounded by 8 sections of hardly hunted ground, so maybe a good buck will show himself on our piece.

About to head in to sit the stand nearest camp. Not much overnite action. Maybe a goodun will stroll by. I drive a mile off the hard road to get in here. Logging crews are setting up this morning up closer to the hwy. shouldn’t affect me if they stay up that way. Y’all have a great day!!!
