Lanier Crappie (Pics)

I decided to do two things I never do. One is fish Lanier on the weekend and the other is crappie fish with minnows. I have fished for crappie just a few times with spoons and jigs but this was the first time with minnows. I learned many lessons this weekend. Saturday I had 8 keepers that all went over a 1.5 lbs. I let them all go. It was like a hit a mother load of females. Four of them fought me so hard and were so heavy and relentless I could not get them in the boat. They tugged and pulled until they ripped the hooks out of their mouths. Two were bigger then the one in my pic from Sunday showed on this post. Time to go to wally world and get a net.::gone: My biggest one I took home was on Sunday right at 2.4 lbs. Oh yea, I had the net this day! Out of the two days I boated 17 with only one non keeper. Not many but I hit some quality for sure. Tight lines...:flag:

Congrats on a great catch, and welcome back. It seems like you took a hiatus, or was I just not paying attention?

2014 I had a heavy workload so little fishing. I lightened it up this year so I could get on the water. Been catching spots on Lanier the last few weeks but spared everyone the same ole post of 1-3 pound spots caught on Lanier posted on here. My patterns have been much different then past few years and have been using new to me artificial baits. But I'm really enjoy pan fishing. Very relaxing and there is a art to it. I have much to learn so I will be back at it soon. In a couple of years I will get a CC and move up with the big dogs and hunt some stripers :fine:

Until you do, you're always welcome in Serenity.
