Lanier Striper - Weight?

My youngest son was back home on leave so of coarse we went fishing. Bass fishing was slow and we had a few baits tied on for busting fish. He saw the fish bust we both threw and we hooked into this monster. Threw a 4/0 weighted hook with a Paddle Tail Fluke, 8lb Seaguar Line and a 2pc pole. About an hour later we landed her. Only fish I caught but a great day and good to be back on the water with my Solder. He insisted we release the fish, I fought it but after careful consideration, I realized I didn't have anywhere to keep it when I got home. Hopefully she survived, we did see her swim away.

Based on the picture I'm guessing about 38-40" long, we did weigh it on a spring scale and it said 28lbs.

Fatty. Nice fish, especially on artificial. I think 28 is pretty accurate. She looks like she's been eating good!

Looks every bit of 28 to me……especially with that fat belly on her!!!!

Awesome father / son memories right there!!!!

Congrats and thanks for sharing it with us!

Nice fish. If you use the striper weight chart on Oakwoodbait.com a 40 inch striper would be between 22-29 lb. with an average weight of 26 lbs.
