The boxelder is truly one of nature's beautiful creations. These are finished with deft lacquer. Anyone know what has happened to the Deft spray lacquer. It ses to be out of production.

Nice work. Sherwin williams has a good catalyst lacquer called sher-wood. I don't know if its available in aerosol but you can buy aerosol spraying kits.

Gallery class....gorgeous! I started having problems with getting deft last year. Invested in a hplv setup. There's comparables and better stuff available to shoot that way.

Those are beautiful! I've never been able to keep that vibrant red color in boxelder, it just fades out and looks like your last pic?

The color can last a long time if piece is keep out of direct sunlight. UV rays will fade the color out in a view years. My mom's den is dark with very little direct sun. She has two bowls I've turned from boxelder that are still beautiful after many years. My wife put a big bowl my son turned on our dinning room table that gets a ton of sun. The red faded out in less than a year.
