Lighting struck tree

Right at quitting time yesterday a rain/lightning storm came through and knocked some of our lines off. On my second call I found this pine about 30 feet away from the line. I got out to take a pic of it and after trying for maybe ten times it finally took a pic without turning off the camera and making phone go to home screen. I could walk back to the truck and everything worked fine but up close to that tree there was definitely some crazy aliens messing around.

Does lightning go from the ground up or the cloud down?

Yeah... That thing really got shredded !!

My Grandparents estate had huge "Smith" pecan trees. Thats just about a lightening rod.

We were up on a roof yesterday afternoon with a T-storm rolling in. I got everybody down till it passed. Got a good soaking rain to. Lightning doesn’t play

Thought you guys might want to see what charged air looks like before it discharges. This is what the cockpit windows often look like when your skirting around the edge of a thunderstorm.
