Depending on just how curious you are, you might want to hire someone with ground penetrating radar geasr to show you what's under there. Not positive, but I think it's under a grand for a small job like that.

Put a rental excavator out there for a few hundred dollars. Lol! May drop off into though. Wind up in China.
