Chinking started today. Slow process but very talented mason. Had to put one coat of chinking and then come back and add final layer.

Update on cabin progress...

Exterior chinking is finished. Started on the chimney rebuild yesterday. Will update again when chimney is finished.

Note - Had decided to go with a pre-fab fireplace and rock around it to make it look original in order to save $$$$. In the end, couldn't pull the trigger on looking at a restored log cabin knowing that a pre-fab fireplace was there. Decided to bite the bullet and go with masonry fireplace.

Beautiful cabin! A slice of authentic Americana. I have a special place in my heart for them. I've done stonework and chinking on an 1870s model.

Thank you sir. Some of the foundation stones are original and most of the others were gathered from the property.

Finished with log cabin restoration. Stone mason finished the fireplace yesterday. Now we have to redecorate the interior with period type furnishings. A couple before and after pics.
