Sam Elliot does a respectable job at playing a cowboy.

A side story to War Wagon, Douglas and Wayne didn't really like each other much, they were on opposite ends of political views . Wayne a Conservative and Douglas more liberal.

Wow, totally missed it. He was a great Doc Holliday in Gunfight At the OK Corral. I enjoyed all of his movies.
