Lots of fish shallow

Out today with some friends and while we did manage 4 stripers on spoons we boated at least 3 times that on the Captain Mack urigs. The number of fish on 35' was pretty strong. Nothing big but plenty of action even with all of the boat traffic.

My graph doesn't look like that! ANGRY FACE!! You are such a jerk for posting good, clean, crisp screen shots!………………haha, sorry i had to. On the spoon, is it just a steady retrieve, or is it a stop and go deal?

If jigging them it is a steady retrieve...fast steady retrieve. If line goes slack on the drop it could mean a bite::ke:

Had it not been for the DNR DO data I would have never looked on 35' flats for fish.

Those screen shots are amazing. I can't get my Helix 10 to show such clear diamonds stacked on the DI. Then again, not sure i can find that many fish at once. Man I'm jealous.

I'm thinking about switching over to HB, and I'm wondering based upon the above responses. Why can't these other guys get clear screenshots like the posters? I've been burned before.

I looked at those tables briefly, didn't know quite what to make of them. I always thought that they related more to favorable temperatures in the summer time.

What do you think has contributed to these out of the ordinary conditions?

very few have an onix. most have the helix. you won't get that quality of image. Bill also has unlimted access to product and engineering and install experts :D

Personally, I think he should refrain from posting those pics because they are misleading to the consumer if we can't duplicate it. As I said, I was burned and highly disappointed with Lowrance after spending thousands!

Here's some Helix 9 screen shots....from dash and on bow while drop shotting. In one pic, you can see a ditch on the 2D and on the Helix 5 DI. Just an FYI on what I get from my Helix units.

thats all 2d though. common knowledge that humminbird has the worst 2d. The side imaging and down are also not in the same class as the onix. if you care about 2d look at garmin for true chirp and lowrance with the tm150 second. if you care about down, look at the onix, then lowrance. if you care about side look at onix, then garmin, then lowrance with 3d. if you care about mapping look at garmin then humminbird with lakemaster then lowrance. they you get to consider panoptix or 360 or 3d, then ease of install, price, etc. clear as mud? that's why i run 2 brands on my boat.

here are some chirp vs non chirp shots. these are using fixed frequency so they show the importance of using a real chirp low q transducer

here are some shots comparing garmins GT8 with the airmar TM150 that most lowrance guys use. again the difference is the low q and the price. the gt8 is high chirp and the tm150 is med. the gt8 is also much cheaper.

here are some shots from my 7612xsv and the GT52 and GT50. real chirp is turned out to be a great advantage for fishing brush on lanier. I can actually see fish in the brush in addition to the greater target separation and being able to see fish belly to the bottom.

see the fish in the brush?

Don't get me wrong. I really like my Helix but it's no onix. It has open a new world for me. Another selling point for me was the link to the minn kota and the mapping.
