We have had egg layers for years, but we are now looking to try some meat chickens. Anyone out there have a suggestion on a good quality meat chicken. I have read a lot that say a Cornish cross is a very good meat. Looking to start with 10 chickens to see how it goes.

We like Cornish cross. They are the most efficient at feed conversion and will be out of your hair in the shortest amount of time

Red rangers or conrnish is about the only meat type birds out there. That bobs biddies place that oldways mentioned is about as cheap as you can get them now.

I tried it once years ago. Just used regular Cornish meat chickens. Turned out real well. Have your stuff ready to butcher them before you get the birds they get big REAL quick

We get all our Cornish X from McMurray Hatchery each year. Raising your own birds is a great venture. Google some of the videos by Joel Salatin on his meat birds for some really good ideas.
