Never mind the jumping threat.

These fish are filter feeders. They sit in the current with there mouth open and eat anything that goes in.

Everywhere they take over fish populations take a big hit. Common theory is they eat a lot of the fry.

I watched two catfish guides from St. louis do a seminar. They drive 2 hours away to net gizzard shad. Said it was a waste of time in the big muddy now.

I fish the Tenneessee River 3-4 times a month. All i use for bait are skipjack herring, gizzard and threadfin shad. Sounds like the carp will have a major impact on the best fishery in the south. I hope they come up with a way to control them
