My first mushroom harvest

Ok, so it is pathetic and the only reason I even harvested them was one Of them looked like It may be on its way down . BUT, I finally found some.

I found 4 or 5 places right next to a creek. If they grow big AND I can collect them, the Total will be a good 4-5 dozen. It seems so dry out, but I had a blast deer scouting while looking for shrooms. My heart started racing when I found the first group of newborns. Silly I know, but what a successful fun day walking through the woods.
if I leave these 4 on The counter on a paper towel, how soon before they are dry enough to sauté? Do they even need to dry out? I plan to eat these four sure, even if there is only 4. How long before these itty bitty ones are big enough to take? Will they even make it?97094D98-EE5B-4C1D-9E0B-5536E07F4FA5.jpegE6A27886-F064-4C8E-B3C4-DC10198365D4.jpeg317F8767-47D0-4401-944E-5208B30AD74B.jpeg4E9CEDCB-EBCE-474E-A8E6-75D89B1E974A.jpeg

I can`t make the pictures bigger, but it looks like you have chants and cinnabars.

No need to dry them out unless you are saving them. Many times I`ve went off into the swamp early in the morning, gathered a mess, brought em back to the house, and made an omelet with them 15 minutes after I cut their little throats and put em in an onion sack.

Only a couple bites, but they were good and I liked the idea of them being”fresh”. Probably keep the mother load in the fridge til it gets devoured.....as soon as I find it that is:wink:

From what I can see looks like minors and cinnabars, which will never get any bigger. And, the fresher the better for sauteeing.

Still really dry but thunderstorms activity is supposed to pickup this week.....we need a good dousing! I did find these this AM. My app says they are smooth chanterelles.....I’m asking it on every thing, even if I’m sure. 330E0096-ED7C-471C-89C8-EDD5F39E7749.jpeg04A90FFA-0785-40F8-9C8B-A36D2C21B2CD.jpeg

Yep, smooth chants. Really good eating. And that's old man of the woods. They're decent if you peel the cuticle and tubes off.
