My season so far

Welcome back.
In an attempt to somewhat ressurect this subforum, ill post a few pic of my season so far. Yall please do the same, would love for this sub to get a little more looks, seems that when the challenge left, so did the bow hunters. 1st off, a ga Sept buck. A good buck but to be honest one I would have passed had I been in Ga for the main part of the rut. Still proud of this 9 point 20210926_081431.jpg

Welcome back.
We left for Iowa late October to some "almost family" land. I hsot this mature buck on the Saturday before nov 1 on an incredible day in the woods. Saw several 140 plus deer. This one was at least 4. 5, real mass but his tine length suffered. But he was a bull and I was tickled to get him. He actually took a step while I squeezed the release, hit him back, recovered the next pm. No meat but I'll be doing a euro on him. Shot a doe too there to fill the cooler.

Welcome back.
When we left Iowa, my buddy from there was heading to a buddy's farm in Kentucky. I was sceptical about leaving of course (my buddy hadn't tagged in Iowa), but the selfish part of me knew I had another chance. Couple days in and I had found a real nice deer to play chess with. I got it done around 3 pm whatever day it was. 30 yds quartering away. My biggest buck to date. 157. Short brows and short 2s halped him miss 160 but he's a giant to me.

Welcome back.
Still got 1 in Ga I'm trying to catch up with. Laid out today but I'll give him a shot this afternoon.
Good luck all and please post up in this subforum if you love bow hunting as much as I do!

Nothing with antlers for me, but I’ll post a couple I’ve taken pictures of. 5 antlerless down for me this season. Killed two sometime in early October feeding on white oaks (not pictured). Killed the third one on Columbus Day feeding on water oaks. #4 was my first public land deer after a few blown opportunities. A little doe on Joe Kurz. The memory was made sweeter because it was a double with my buddy who had never killed a public land or bow deer. I drew down on a deer the second Friday in November and my bow exploded. Since I had taken the day off to hunt, I decided to go ahead and get a new bow. #5 came 11/16 (my wife’s birthday). It was a doe and a product of trying to gain confidence in my new bows abilities. Took a quartering too shot at 20 yards. I put it on the point of one shoulder and it exited right behind the other after passing through at least one lung and heart. She ran about 50 yards and that was that. I’ve had a hankering to kill a racked buck, so I’m spending the next two weeks or so trying to find one. I’m currently set up between a clearcut and swamp on a community scrape. All the scrapes I found walking in had been freshly worked so hopefully one will work through here this afternoon. Here’s a couple of the bucks that were hanging around last month when I checked the camera.

I’ve shot 2 does with a bow this year. I’m in GA amd can bring a rifle but sticking with a bow for now. 11/21 at about 7:10 shot one of my target bucks at about 25 yards. 4 3/4 inches of the arrow broke off as he ran away. I videoed the shot and will try to figure out how to post in on here. Shot was high shoulder and never recovered him. A lot of people say he will be fine I hope so.

I’ve had more of those high shoulder shots than I care to admit whether it be from target panic or misjudged yardage. I shot a really nice 8 point a few years ago following a doe. Ranged her at 30 and then shot him for 30 when he came out. He took a trail that was 7-10 yards closer to me and I hit high shoulder. They ran off and she brought him right back 30-45 minutes later. Not close enough for a shot the second time, but close enough to know he should be fine based on the way he acted. Hope you can get another chance at him

Had 2 bucks patterned pretty good opening week of bow season. Well long story short the droptine buck showed opening morning but never gave me a clear shot. Few days later the big 8 that was hanging out showed up. Hard quartering away shot at 23 yards . He ran maybe 50 . Lost a doe a week ago still not sure what happened . Followed blood for over 1.2 miles never recovered her. Been a great season good luck to everyone .

Congratulations on one heck of a season!

Missed a giant for my area 1st week of November and hadn’t hunted all that much this year probably the least in 10/12 yrs...but headed back up after Thanksgiving Dinner so maybe I’ll get another chance to let one fly!

Congrats again heck of a season!
