My velvet buck

Killed this guy in 2013 from the ground with my 50lb grizzly. 6-8 yards shot. Finally had the euro mount done after all these years. The only velvet buck I’ve ever killed. Mounted the skull on a piece of driftwood my wife found while we were camping last year.

That is a big Jim quiver. It’s the strap style. I’ve had it for a while now. A little narrow in the hood for tree sharks. Other than that zero complaints.

It was in a deep freezer. The taxidermist soaks the antlers in formaldehyde to cure the velvet. It’s just as soft as the day it was alive.

5 years in the freezer and no damage.
I guess anything is possible.
I’ve never ever shot a buck in velvet.
