Going to try carters lake or the rereg spill way for the first time from the bank. any tips or lures to use for stripe or walleye? Heard there are stripe and walleye in the spillway. Would live bait or lures be better this time of year?

I’ve never caught a walleye at the spillway. I’ve caught them out of the main lake so there are probably some in the river below but I’ve caught bream, bass, catfish and a few stripers at the spillway. For stripers I have had better luck with bait but that’s mostly what I have used, I have seen several stripers caught by anglers on bucktails and large minnow plugs.

Think threadfin shad would work on striper there? Friend caught them on NLBN swim baits in June.

Gizzard or threadfin shad is plentiful in that area, so match the hatch. Lake, below lake, below spillway dam.

Yeah, either one should at least be tried.
