Newton County 11 Pointer

I had been getting a nice mainframe 9 pointer on camera all summer long on a new tract. I setup a ladder stand in a big block of hardwoods to hunt him. After 2 sits and seeing him once with no clear shot I realized most of the deer were coming from behind the stand and so did the 9 pointer. I knew at that point the ladder stand I had put up was hurting my odds of me killing this buck. There was just no good wind to hunt out of the ladder stand without getting winded. After lot of thought and debating on hunting him out of a ground blind or a climber I decided on a ground blind. On Wednesday I decided to leave work at noon and put the ground blind up. It was warm and I was sweating a good bit. I thought for sure it’s gonna take several days before he will be used to this ground blind and all the trimming I did for shooting lanes. To my surprise he was in there that afternoon along with a bunch of other deer. The wind was gonna be right for the ground blind the next day so I decided to give it a shot. Glad I did. It was a great hunt and it all worked out perfectly. He ended up having 2 extra stickers on his left base and weighted 203 pounds. IMG_0308.jpegIMG_0893.jpegIMG_0827.jpeg

Nice buck, congrats... I hear people say blinds spook deer, my experience is that they do not. I put them up, brush in a little and hunt it next day. Deer all over me.
